Tempered satin glass 12 mm is part of the category "safety glass" and is 4 to 5 times stronger than normel (non-tempered) glass. Because it is stronger than normal glass, you can use this glass in situations where you need the extra strength. In 6 mm thickness you can use it for (small) glass shelves in a cupboard, as a shelf (in combination with glass supports), tabletop and for windows for an interior door or gazebo.
Tempered satin glass 12 mm is a glass plate of 12 mm thick of which 1 side has been acidified. Due to this processing, one side is matt and has a rough surface. This matted side allows the light to diffuse beautifully. This gives you maximum light transmission without transparency. Tempered satin glass is used when you want privacy with optimal light transmission
Main features of tempered satin glass 12 mm:
Tempered, satin colored glass 12 mm, also known as Securit, construction glass or hard glass
One side is matted with the surface feeling a little rough. The other side is just like normal glass
Suitable for indoor application, limited as outdoor application (the satin-finished side becomes limited transparent when this side gets wet. When this side has dried, the matted side gets it´s frosted look again)
Due to the hardening of the glass, the glass can withstand temperature shocks of up to 200 degrees, making it ideal for outdoor use and as a table top
Standard unfinished/sharp edges, various edge finishings possible
This glass weighs 30 kg per m²
The mentioned price is a m² price
Can be custom-made in the glass configurator
This comes standard with a hardening stamp in the corner of the glass. Please state clearly when ordering if you do not want this hardening stamp on it

Points of attention for 12 mm tempered satin glass:
WATCH OUT!! Normal glass has been used in this type of glass. As a result, there will be a slight greenish discoloration which may slightly deviate from the reality of the image on the website
Once the glass has been tempered in the oven you can not adjust it. The glass plate will break with every attempt you try to change it. It is therefore very important that you order the correct glass size and with all needed additions in it (such as drill holes). You can no longer add this once the glass has tempered
When the satin side of the glass gets wet, the glass will become temporarily transparent. Once the water has dried again, it will regain its original matt appearance. This is not a fault of the glass, but this is part of this product. You can't help it. If you have a situation with a wet and dry side, preferably place the matted side on the dry side
You are responsible at all times for applying the safety standards and requirements applicable in your country! In the Netherlands, this includes NEN-3569:2011 (“Vlakglas voor gebouwen – Risicobeperking van lichamelijk letsel door brekend en vallend glas – Eisen” voor Nederland).
For the production of custom glass, tolerances have been determined within the glass industry in terms of dimensions, quality and finish. These are industry-wide and are used by all glass companies. Please note that it is possible that glass may have a small size deviation (approx. 1 - 2 mm), and certain miniscule damages cannot always be claimed
Think carefully about the right glass size. Size changes are no longer possible once your order has gone into production
Within the glass industry it is customary to calculate a minimum area per piece. This is necessary because the handling of an order is always necessary and this prevents a glass plate from costing € 1.50, for example, while the actual production costs are much higher. The minimum area to be calculated differs per product and is stated under the tab "More information" on the product page
